Beauty belonged in the daily rituals of a home. This pattern was designed for the doors of the built-in buffet at Wright’s Barton House in Buffalo, built in 1903. It brought art into the furniture used around the dining table.
Wright’s organic architecture treated the building, its furnishings and its surroundings as one connected whole. The purpose reached beyond visual consistency: a home could give everyday life a sense of harmony and belonging. Here, fine vertical lines and amber-and-rust chevrons can suggest a growing stem—nature translated into the order of a room. The buffet’s practical role makes the idea tangible: beauty encountered while gathering, serving and sharing a meal.
Contemporary art-glass adaptation. Enamel colours are kiln-fired onto a single glass panel, framed in metal. Includes a hanging chain and wood display stand.
